TSC TTP-244 Pro & TTP-345 Discontinued India — Complete Migration Guide to TH240 & TH340 (2026)

January 2026 marked the official end-of-sale for two of the most widely used barcode printers in India. TSC Auto ID has officially phased out the TTP-244 Pro (203 DPI desktop) and the TTP-345 (300 DPI desktop), replacing them with the next-generation TH240 and TH340 series respectively.

If your operation runs TTP-244 Pro or TTP-345 printers, this guide tells you exactly what changes, what stays the same, what the migration path looks like, and why the upgrade is worth doing now rather than waiting for a breakdown.

What “Phased Out” Means in Practice

End-of-sale means TSC has stopped manufacturing the TTP-244 Pro and TTP-345. Authorized dealers in India will exhaust existing stock and not receive new stock. Once current dealer inventory is depleted — which typically takes 3–6 months from the announcement — new TTP-244 Pro and TTP-345 units will be unavailable through any authorized channel.

For operations currently running these printers, phase-out has two immediate practical implications:

  1. Spare parts availability will reduce over time. TSC will continue to supply spare parts for discontinued models for a period (typically 5 years from end-of-sale), but availability will tighten. Printheads, platen rollers and main boards will become harder to source as the installed base shrinks.
  2. No further firmware updates. New features, security patches and printer language updates will only be released for current models. TTP-244 Pro and TTP-345 are frozen at their last firmware version.

TTP-244 Pro to TH240 — What Changed, What Stayed the Same

What stays the same

  • 203 DPI resolution — same print quality for the same label applications
  • 4-inch (104mm) print width — same media compatibility
  • TSPL-EZD printer language — your existing Bartender, label software and print commands work without modification
  • Thermal transfer and direct thermal both supported
  • Same standard label sizes and ribbon widths

What is better on the TH240

  • Toolless printhead and platen roller replacement: No screwdriver needed. Swap the printhead in 60 seconds with no tools. The TTP-244 Pro required tools and partial disassembly. This alone reduces printhead replacement labour cost significantly.
  • 3.5-inch colour LCD touchscreen: The TTP-244 Pro had a small monochrome LCD. The TH240 has a colour touchscreen with a clear menu structure for media calibration, network configuration and diagnostics.
  • Faster processor: TH240 boots faster and processes complex label templates (large bitmaps, RFID encoding) significantly quicker.
  • Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 available: As field-installable slot-in modules. The TTP-244 Pro Wi-Fi upgrade was older-generation 802.11 b/g/n.
  • Improved media sensor: Better gap and black mark detection reliability on non-standard media, reducing calibration failures.
  • Updated TSC CloudConnect support: Full cloud printing and remote management from anywhere via TSC Console Web — not available on TTP-244 Pro.
  • Lower total cost of ownership: Toolless printhead replacement means a technician swap that used to take 30 minutes now takes 3 minutes.

India Price

TSC TH240: ₹29,750 + 18% GST = ₹35,105 from Infinite Solutions with 2-year TSC factory warranty. TSC Comprehensive Warranty (covers printhead wear) available at 25% discount when purchased with the printer.

TTP-345 to TH340 — What Changed, What Stayed the Same

What stays the same

  • 300 DPI resolution — same high-resolution print quality for pharma, jewellery and electronics labels
  • 4-inch print width
  • TSPL-EZD compatibility — existing label templates and print commands unchanged
  • Thermal transfer and direct thermal

What is better on the TH340

All the same hardware improvements listed for the TH240 above, plus:

  • Improved printhead element density: 300 DPI at 11.8 dots/mm — same resolution number but manufactured with updated printhead technology that produces cleaner dot edges and longer printhead life ratings.
  • Better handling of resin ribbons: The TH340’s updated ribbon path and tension management reduces ribbon wrinkle on full resin ribbons at 300 DPI, a common problem on the TTP-345 at high speeds.

India Price

TSC TH340: ₹29,750 + 18% GST = ₹35,105 from Infinite Solutions — same price as TH240.

Migration Checklist — Moving from TTP to TH Series

Item Action Required Complexity
Label templates None — TSPL-EZD is fully backward compatible None
Windows printer driver Download TH240/TH340 driver from TSC website. Reinstall on each PC. Low — 10 min per PC
BarTender setup Update printer model in BarTender printer settings. Templates unchanged. Low — 5 min
Ethernet IP address Configure same IP as TTP-244 Pro/TTP-345 to drop in without network changes Low
Media calibration Run media calibration on first load (hold Feed on startup). One-time. Low — 2 min
Darkness setting Re-test and adjust. TH240/TH340 may need a slightly different setting than TTP. Low — 5 min
Wi-Fi configuration If upgrading from TTP Wi-Fi module, reconfigure SSID and password on TH series Low — 5 min

Total migration time per printer: approximately 30 minutes including unpacking, driver install, IP configuration and test print. There are no complex integration changes required for standard label printing setups.

Should You Replace All TTP Printers Now or Wait?

There is a reasonable case for planning a phased replacement now rather than waiting for breakdown:

  • Avoid emergency procurement: A TTP-244 Pro printhead failure at a packing station means production stops until a replacement is found. Replacing planned units now eliminates this risk on a known timeline.
  • Take advantage of Comprehensive Warranty at purchase: The 25% discount on TSC Comprehensive Warranty is only available at point of purchase. A printer bought in an emergency has less negotiating flexibility.
  • Spare parts parity window: For the next 12‘24 months, TTP spare parts should still be available. Beyond that, availability becomes less certain. Continuing to run TTP units past this window increases repair risk.
  • The cost is low: At ₹35,105 per unit, the TH240 is priced close to the TTP-244 Pro replacement cost. The upgrade is not a significant capex event for most operations.

A reasonable approach for multi-printer operations: replace the highest-volume printers first (those printing 1,000+ labels per day), and replace lower-volume units progressively as their next maintenance cycle comes around.
