How BarTender Printer Licences Work
BarTender is licensed per application (workstation) and per printer. Here is how to calculate the correct licence for your operation:
- Application licence (WS / Workstation): The software installation on one PC or server. Required once per installation point.
- Printer licence: Each physical printer that BarTender sends jobs to requires one printer licence. A printer licence is tied to the printer's IP address or queue name.
- Unlimited Printers (WS editions): The WS/Workstation editions include unlimited printer connections — meaning any number of printers can be added without additional per-printer licence purchases. Best for operations with many printers.
- Bundled printer editions (e.g. BTP-3-3YR): Includes the application licence and a set number of printer licences (e.g. 3). Additional printers can be added by purchasing the PRT licence (e.g. BTP-PRT-3YR) per additional printer.
Example: A manufacturer with 1 server running BarTender Automation and 6 TSC printers needs: BTA-3-3YR (application + 3 printers) + 3 × BTA-PRT-3YR (3 additional printer licences) = ₹2,44,000 + (3 × ₹56,000) = ₹4,12,000 + GST for 3-year perpetual.
What Is Standard Support & Maintenance (MSA)?
All BarTender licences include Standard Maintenance & Support Agreement (MSA) for the duration selected (1, 3 or 5 years). MSA includes:
- Free major and minor version upgrades during the MSA period
- Technical support from Seagull Scientific
- Access to BarTender’s online knowledge base and support portal
- Bug fixes and security patches
After the MSA period expires on a Perpetual licence, the software continues to work but no further upgrades or support are available until the MSA is renewed.

- Licence delivery: Electronic licence (e-licence) delivered by email. No physical media.
