Quick answer
The T6000e is the Printronix mid-range industrial printer, built for up to 10,000 labels a day in a die-cast aluminium frame. Pick a 4-inch model (T6204e, T6304e or T6604e) for most product, carton and compliance labels, and a 6-inch model (T6206e or T6306e) for wider labels. Choose 600 dpi only when the labels are tiny, such as on PCB assemblies, and add RFID or the ODV-2D verifier if your customers demand it.
Which T6000e should you buy?
Every T6000e prints direct thermal and thermal transfer, has 512 MB RAM and 128 MB flash, takes an 8-inch label roll and a 450 m ribbon, and comes with Ethernet, USB and RS-232 serial. The model number shows the resolution and width: T62 means 203 dpi, T63 means 300 dpi and T66 means 600 dpi, while 04e is 4 inches and 06e is 6 inches.
| Model | Print width | Top speed | Pick this if… |
|---|---|---|---|
| T6204e (203 dpi) | 4.1 in | 14 ips | you need the fastest output for shipping, carton and pallet labels. |
| T6304e (300 dpi) | 4.1 in | 12 ips | labels mix text, logos and 2D codes, as in pharma, auto parts and FMCG. |
| T6604e (600 dpi) | 4.1 in | 6 ips | you print very small labels, such as on PCB assemblies, or detailed Asian characters. |
| T6206e (203 dpi) | 6.55 in | 12 ips | you print wide drum, carton or pallet labels where fine detail is not critical. |
| T6306e (300 dpi) | 6.55 in | 10 ips | you need wide labels that also carry small text or 2D codes. |
On the store you will find the T6204e, T6304e, 600 dpi T6604 and T6306e, plus bundles such as the T6304e with peel-off kit and the T6304e with batch rewinder. Each product page shows the current price. For several printers, ask for a project quote. The T6000e India page has a short overview.
RFID and ODV-2D: decide early
RFID models encode RAIN UHF (EPC Gen2, ISO 18000-63) labels, on-metal tags and other constructions such as plant stakes, returnable transport item tags and wristbands. A failed tag is overstruck and reprinted automatically. Retrofitting RFID is possible on a standard 4-inch unit, though the kit uses the internal antenna only and offers reduced backup and overstrike. If RFID is central to the project, order an RFID model from the start.
The ODV-2D option is an inline barcode verifier. It checks each 1D and 2D code as it prints, and retracts, voids and reprints any label that fails. With PrintNet Enterprise, those results also form an audit trail. If you already own a 4-inch T6000e, the ODV field kit for T6000e (ODV2D-V3) adds it. See our barcode verification page for typical uses.
Which printhead fits your T6000e?
Printheads are the main wear part. On the T6000e they snap in without tools, and the printer detects the change by itself. They are also interchangeable across resolutions: 203, 300 and 600 dpi on the 4-inch model, and 203 and 300 dpi on the 6-inch model. Order by printer and resolution:
| Your printer | Genuine printhead | Part number |
|---|---|---|
| T6204e (4 in, 203 dpi) | T6000e 4-inch 200 dpi printhead | P220354-001 |
| T6304e (4 in, 300 dpi) | T6000e 4-inch 300 dpi printhead | P220355-001 |
| T6304e RFID (4 in, 300 dpi) | T6000e RFID 4-inch 300 dpi printhead | P220358-001 |
| T6604e (4 in, 600 dpi) | T6000e 4-inch 600 dpi printhead | P220356-001 |
| T6306e (6 in, 300 dpi) | T6000e 6-inch 300 dpi printhead | P220361-001 |
Owners of the older T6000 (without the "e") need different parts, which we list separately, such as the T6000 4-inch 300 dpi assembly. Check the label on your printer before ordering. Our genuine printheads carry a warranty of 1 year or 25 km, whichever is earlier. Physical damage, scratches and white dots are not covered. Printronix's own printhead warranty is 12 months or 1 million linear inches in thermal transfer mode, and 180 days or 1 million linear inches in direct thermal mode.

Setting it up
- Connect it. Use Ethernet for shared line printers. Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, GPIO and parallel can be added later as field kits.
- Pick a language. Nine printer languages are built in, including PGL, ZGL, STGL and MGL, plus PostScript Level 3 and PDF 1.7. Existing label formats can often be reused without extra software.
- Load the media. Supplies load from the side with colour-coded cues, and a loading diagram is printed inside the media cover. Use a 1.5 to 3 inch core and a ribbon on a 1 inch core.
- Calibrate. Select the gap or mark sensor for your stock and run calibration from the panel. For RFID stock, run RFID calibration from the RFID menu. It feeds three or four labels to set the encoding position and power.
- Save presets. Store up to five configurations, and use the quick change memory card to copy settings to another printer.
Keep firmware separate: T6000e firmware will not load on an older T6000, and the reverse is also blocked.
Running costs and consumables
Ribbons can be wax, wax/resin or resin, up to 450 m long, and from 1 to 4.5 inches wide on the 4-inch model or 2 to 6.8 inches on the 6-inch model. Labels can be 0.06 to 0.268 mm thick, and on-metal RFID tags up to 2.2 mm. Printronix's intelligent heat management is designed to extend printhead life. Shop ribbons and labels. A 5-year Comprehensive Care Pack, bought with the printer, fixes service costs for the long term.
Common problems and fixes
- Label wrap. Clear the wrapped labels carefully and check that the media is threaded as shown on the loading diagram. Printronix has a video on clearing label wrap.
- Grey or uneven print. Clean the printhead, check that the ribbon grade suits the label, and use the print quality adjustment.
- The ODV keeps voiding labels. Treat it as an early warning. It can point to a dirty or worn printhead or an unsuitable ribbon. See our Delhi service centre if the problem continues.
- RFID tags keep failing. Recalibrate for the inlay, and check that the tags are UHF, because HF tags are not supported.
Warranty and cover options
New printers ship with the standard manufacturer's warranty against manufacturing defects. Longer cover can only be bought at the time you buy the printer. You can choose a 1-year extended warranty, or a comprehensive warranty for 3 or 5 years, such as the 5-year Comprehensive Care Pack. There is no 1-year comprehensive option, and comprehensive cover can't be added later. The comprehensive warranty takes the place of the standard warranty, and both run together from the printer's invoice date. So a 5-year plan means 5 years in total, not 1 + 5. Once cover ends, ask us about an AMC.
FAQ
How do the T6204e, T6304e and T6604e compare?
They are the three 4-inch versions. Speed falls as resolution rises: 14 ips for the 203 dpi T6204e, 12 ips for the 300 dpi T6304e and 6 ips for the 600 dpi T6604e, which is meant for very small labels.
How many labels a day is the T6000e designed for?
Printronix rates the T6000e for up to 10,000 labels a day in demanding environments.
Does the printer notice when I change the printhead?
Yes. Printhead changes need no tools, and the T6000e detects the new printhead automatically.
Which printhead should I order for a T6304e?
For a standard T6304e, order the 4-inch 300 dpi head, part P220355-001. For a T6304e RFID, order the RFID 4-inch 300 dpi head, part P220358-001.
Is it possible to add RFID to a standard T6000e later?
Yes, on the 4-inch standard printer. The retrofit uses the internal antenna alone, and backup and overstrike are restricted, so a factory RFID model is the better buy if RFID matters.
Can Wi-Fi, GPIO or parallel be added after purchase?
Yes. All three are available as field kits.
How thick can on-metal RFID tags be?
The T6000e accepts on-metal RFID tags up to 2.2 mm thick. Ordinary labels range from 0.06 to 0.268 mm.
Will the T6000e encode HF RFID tags?
No. It supports only UHF EPCglobal Gen2 (ISO 18000-63) labels and tags.
